The ‘I Love Your Blog’ Interview…

The adorable LolaDee from Things I Fell In Love With Today requested I do this, and since there hasn’t been anything like this in a while and because I can’t deny that lovely girl anything, here I go…

1 – Why did you create the blog?
Ah well initially it was because I had a lot of time on my hands after I left college and having gotten used to writing almost everyday during those three years of academic bliss, I didn’t want to get out of the habit. I blogged idly for about six months and then around February 2009 it kicked off!

2 -What kind of blogs do you follow?
My favourite blogs always have a personal touch. I love reading about people’s lives (well as long as they’re interesting, lol) and if they’re funny as well, I’m all over it. They don’t have to have the most exciting lives in the world (hell, who am I to judge) but they do need to have an interesting slant put on them. Some good examples would be White Rabbit NI, Live It Love It and Jennifer Alice in Wonderland, who has become a leeeeeeeetle irregular in her blogging patterns, but I would recommend browsing through her archives and keeping an eye on her blog anyway!
I also love photography and fashion blogs, but again only if there’s a personal angle! Kisses and Cross Stitches and Whisty are good examples of this!

3 – Favourite make up brand?
I mix and match. I go to Loreal for foundation and powder (although I may be switching to MAC this month), Benefit for concealers, Rimmel for eyeliners and Smashbox from primer!

4 – Favourite clothing brand?
Topshop and Urban Outfitters are where I’ve gotten a lot of my clothes. I find they’re a little hit and miss season-by-season though! Last Winter, Spring and Summer, Urban Outfitters kicked ass, while Topshop was pretty awful, and then BANG Topshop’s A/W 2010 collections were amazing, while Urban Outfitters was shamefully disappointing! If I’m looking for a nice dress for a special occasion, I’ll nearly always go to Oasis.

5 – Your indispensable make up product?
Rimmel Waterproof Eye Definer

6 – Your favourite colour?
I wouldn’t tie myself down to anything, but you can’t go wrong with lovely blush colours.

7 – Your perfume?
I’m always a little embarrassed to admit this, but the perfume I’ve used for the last 3+ years is Britney Spears’ Fantasy. I know, I know, it’s hardly the perfume of a stylish person, but it’s actually gorgeous. I find it really hard to find perfumes that work on me. A lot of them smell nice, but then they smell chemically when they mix with my ‘natural musk’ or whatever the hell is coming out of my skin. I had a terrible experience with Dior Cherie last year, which cost my €70 *sigh* Also if I’m looking for a bit of a change, I mix Fantasy with DKNY’s Be Delicious -the apple works really well with it, but reminds of washing-up liquid on its own!

8 – Your favourite film?
It’s just not possible to choose. Some of my go-to movies are Clueless, 500 Days of Summer, Amelie, Love Me If You Dare, All About Eve and anything with Meg Ryan in it…well not anything, just When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seatle, You’ve Got Mail and City of Angels.

9 – What country would you like to visit and why?
I’m not a huge traveller, to be honest. I would like to go back to New York and I’m always up for visiting Paris, but I’m not crazy to visit anywhere else. I suppose it would be interesting to visit Japan and maybe recreate Roman Holiday in Rome!

10 – Write the last question and answer it yourself: What film do you think NEVER EVER EVER should have been remade?
It’s a tough one, but it has to come down to The Karate Kid…and also Buffy The Vampire Slayer if that actually goes ahead!

Nowww…I’m passing this along to the following lovely bloggers :)

There’s more to life than hair, but it’s a good place to start

*tick tock, tick tock* It’s getting closer and closer to the big First Dye day.

EEEEP!

I still haven’t decided on a colour, although I am going to base my final decision on what the hairdresser says (unless I don’t like the look of her own hair colour, in which case I’m running away!), but I do know I just want to lighten my hair to a brown of some sort. It’s not that I don’t love my black hair, but I’m at a stage where I need to start dying it and that black dye is WAY too severe for my face…

Any suggestions as to which of these shades you think might look best?

Thank you for Smoking

One of my favourite parts of a holiday is getting to raid the duty free in the airport on the way home …well, if I have money!

Luckily, our London weekend ended up being really cheap and so I arrived at Stansted with £60 in my purse *cue crazy-happy running towards the Benefit counter*

And what to my wondering eyes did appear? Benefit’s Smokin’ Eyes …it’s changed my life.

I have never EVER managed to achieve a smokey look as perfect as the one I achieved when I tested this out at home.

Je suis very happy.

Also included on my purchasing list was Bluff Dust for my persistant flushing!

This too is incredible!

And the definition is ….

Rimmel’s Exaggerate Eye Definer is the bestest best eyeliner in the entire world, and quite honestly, I couldn’t survive without it!

It cancels out all need for black eyeshadow when you want to create a smouldering smokey eye look, but equally it’s perfect for a trip-to-shop eye lining!

Mwah!

Cos you’re my Rock Star in between the sets, Eyeliner and Cigarettes

I didn’t follow the latest American Idol, nor did I think much of runner-up Adam Lambert in any of his interviews, nor did I care whether or not he was gay, BUT I do very much love his spread for Rolling Stones magazine.

Very Glam Rock…

A little letter to …Serena Van Der Woodsen

Dear Serena of Season 2,

Thank you for taking a stand.

Thank you for spurring on the feminist movement.

Thank you for trying to make it ok for girls to wear clothes that are incredibly unflattering to their shape.

Thank you for stepping up and saying, Hey, we can look like trashy tramps if we want!

Screw the fashion gurus who say you can’t bare your legs AND your clevage at the same time.

Girl Power!!

Lots o Love,

Hermia

PS: I really think clown make-up will be the next big thing!

A little letter to …The Kristen Stewart Enthusiasts on Lovelyish

Dear All-the-Kristen-Supporters-who-commented-on-my-post-here,

Wow, you guys have opened my eyes.

I am such a hater. I really need to stop writing things that I feel and have researched very well just because I’m soooo unbelievably jealous of the people I criticise.

I mean if I don’t like something, I shouldn’t bother thinking about it or writing about it, because that’s how problems are solved.

I’m also so grateful that you pointed out that if I was to attempt to play Bella in Twilight, I would probably be terrible. I’m just so lucky that I was never so blind as to attempt to forge a career as an actor when I can’t act and hate crowds.

I just feel so guilty about pointing out Kristen’s bad attitude when she’s obviously so misunderstood. I mean, forget the fact that I had actually watched a vast number of interviews before writing the post, in which she rolled her eyes everytime she was asked a question that wasn’t “serious enough” for her and complained about all the Twilight fans. She’s so right: what right have they got to love Twilight and the actors, even if they are the ones currently funding her career.

I really am just so horrible and shallow. Everybody knows that girls who criticise other girls just do it because they hate themselves and are jealous of the success of others. It’s nothing to do with the fact that the girl might actually have those faults.

I should just sit back from now on and say nothing when people act as though they’re the greatest thing on earth and teach people that you don’t have to be polite or nice as long as you get what you want.

And I also love you guys for making really intelligent suggestions for me to just not watch anything that might have Kristen Stewart in it if she bothers me. I mean so what if I liked the Twilight books or think Adventureland looks like a good flick: I should just boycott them.

I’m really going to try hard from now on not to be trashy and critical of people who haven’t done anything to me personally: that worked really well with Hitler.

Also you guys hit the nail on the head when you said Lovelylish were so wrong for posting my piece on their site; a site which is about beauty and fashion. Beauty is so only on the outside, and they really shouldn’t feature anything that criticises a lack of good manners or the absence of  inner-beauty in a person acting as a role-model to young girls.

I am forever in your debt, Kristen-Defenders,

Catherine.

PS: Thanks to the guy who said I obviously don’t know what a person looks like when they’re high, even though I said that other people had questioned her lucidity:  I’ll now make it my mission to experience what getting high is actually like so I’ll never make a mistake like that again.

To Dye For…

My Fair Lady’s Candace and her boyfriend Chris have decided to start a new blog called Sunday Fun Day.

The theme?

Well the lovely couple will take pictures of each other each Sunday and post them on their site!

How cute!???

Here is Chris’ first effort…

Amazing colours, right!

Anyway, I’ll admit I have an ulterior motive in posting about this and that’s the fact I love Candace’s hair colour and as I’m planning to dye my hair for the very first time during the month, I think I’ve found a real possibility!

I’m a little unsure about how it will work with my own colouring, considering I have that crazy blush thing going on, but it just might have a cool enough base to contrast that…

I’ll think on it a while longer.

Currently loving ….. Bourjois So Delicate Lip Cream

I bought this yesterday when I desperately needed lip balm and couldn’t find a decent one.

The cute little container caught my eye and the varying rosy shades couldn’t have suited me more. I’ve very little time for glosses, because let’s face it, a shiny mouth is soooooo Nineties, and in general lipsticks are either too drying for me or the colours are kinda blah.

Bourjois Lip Cream has a beautiful texture that blends really well and has some great moisturising properties.

It was most definitely worth the €8 I paid for it, and I’d normally never ever say that about lip products.

The colour I’m currently using is Rose Poudré, which is this beautifully rosy pink …perfect for the summer!
