If it’s not Baroque, don’t fix it!

Blog: Grace’s Birdcage

Blogger: Alissa

Location: Kansas

Why do we like her? Cos she loves Lady GaGa!!!!!!! She loves Lady GaGa SOOOO much that she threw a party with a Favourite Musician theme, so that she’d have an excuse to dress up like her!

WOW! Lady GaGa is AWESOME, which makes Alissa awesome for her dedication to her ….why else is she awesome? Well not that you need a reason other than the Lady GaGa one, but I will humour you anyway…

Check out the rest of Alissa’s profile HERE.

Beauty and the Beast was my favorite children’s story growing up. I (pathetically) could still recite Disney’s version word-for-word in high school. This editorial from Vogue 2005, shot by Annie Leibovitz, has always been one of my absolute favorites. I paired each shot with some of my favorite quotes from the movie and a piece of vintage jewellery from etsy.

Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it’s getting!

I’m very behind in blogging this morning (well this week in general), because work has been so busy! But The White Rabbit is now up on Diamond in the Rough so give her a look-see! :D

Blog: The White Rabbit

Blogger’s Name:Au Lapin Blanc (the rumours are her parents were crazy hippies!)

Location: Northern Ireland

Why We Like Her: We don’t really …she paid us to put her blog on this site.

KIDDING!!!!!

(The Rabbit removes the gun from Hermia’s head!)

No but seriously …do you guys like her??? No we don’t. We LOVE ADORE AND WORSHIP her! …see what I did there???? She’s a self-confessed Nordie who “likes stuff and enjoys things”. We like stuff. We enjoy things. The obvious conclusion is that we’re soul mates and so, we must love her blog! She’s one of those Made To Be A Comedian people who finds dry hilarity in everyday anything…

I thought I would never find love. I was awkward. I was all frizzy hair, bucked teeth, cheeks, arse, belly and wind. I was a sheltered child. For most of my life, my parents kept me locked up in my room because they thought I was allergic to pretty much everything. Turns out the doctor made a terrible mistake – my face wasn’t swollen due to various reactions; that’s just what I looked like. Not a good start. I was clumsy, I had no obvious talent and I’m sure you remember the persistent persecution by my peers of my constant companion, my pet rock, Rocky. I was not blessed with imagination either as you can see.

I stood on the bottom rung of the social ladder. I didn’t scream girlfriend material but you, oh you my darling, you were my knight in a waistcoat; my Prince Charming.

We met years ago when we were younger in school. You kind of knew me through a friend of a friend of a friend who once got the bus with me.

I remember the first thing you said to me, Angel

‘Do you have a sharpener?’

Such a magnificent gift with words you have! I know what you were really trying to say. You were trying to tell me that you fancied the arse off me and you wanted to make me your little wife.

I liked you instantly because you could do amusing little jigs and were the snappiest dresser around. Nothing changes much there. Everyone wanted to be around you because you were cool and enjoyed the company of Ninjas…

I remember bringing it to the dinner table…

Check out Diamond in the Rough today to meet the lovely Ali from Ali  in Wonderland….

The Blog: Ali in Wonderland

Blogger’s Name: Ali

Location: Canada

Why We Like Her: Ali’s blog is the place we head to if we want a good literary fix! The girl loves books and has GREAT taste, including my personal favourite The Time Traveler’s Wife ….and the Harry Potter series, of course!!!! Combine this with her simple, yet soul-satisfying choice of images, and you’re onto a winner!

The Chronicles of Narmia is the novel that inspires me and evoked my imagination the most when I was growing up.

I first came across Narnia series when I was around nine and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was given to me as a birthday gift from a family friend.

After a couple minutes of reading, I was enthralled with the magic and wonder of the book.

I remember bringing it to the dinner table and trying to read it during the meal. My mother was not too enthused with the idea and immediately told me to put the book away…

Today we’re kicking it all off with a guest post by Lavelle from Kisses and Cross Stitches….

The Blog: Kisses and Cross Stitches

Blogger’s Name: Lavelle

Location: England

Why We Like Her:We always find something on her blog, which features the most beautiful collection of photos and she is never to busy to throw a kind word our way. We also love her dedication and the fact that she’s always on the lookout for something to inspire us with: I buy a ridiculous amount of magazines every month and soak up every last image, article and editorial, taking notes of things that I like. I read an extensive collection of blogs on a daily basis and am completely addicted to tumblr for finding beautiful images!.….For the rest of the Lavelle Info, click Here

Sleeping Beauty, waiting for her Prince’s kiss to awake her

Maleficent: Listen well, all of you. The Princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her. But, before the sun sets on her 16th birthday, she shall prick her finger, on the spindle of a spinning wheel – AND DIE!

Must I dream and always see your face

I feel as though I’ve been a very bad blogger this week!

Normally I’d have a good two posts a day, five days a week, and out of shame, I’m just refusing to look back at how much I’ve blogged this past week and a half!

I’ve been busy! And in the last few weeks have multipled my blogging responsibilities by a million, between my long-time-friend-blog Hermia, my new baby Are You There Blog? and Diamond, the recent addition to my lovely family, who is the most demanding, but most rewarding of the three!

I did take a half-day pour moi today, just to relax and look at something that wasn’t a computer screen!!!

Diamond in the Rough is going through the final stages for its grand debut 2moro, and the last week has been spent trailing through LOADS of blogs and confering with all of the beautiful bloggers who were so enthusiastic and just dying to get involved in this good cause, as well as buysing myself with general blog-building, idea-generating and trying in vain to organise my inbox.

I dunno how Perez does it!!!

*phew*

It’s been great though! It’s been such a great experience and seeing how quick all you guys were to push your fellow bloggers into the spotlight was just so refreshing and generally good for the soul! (there were obviously the few trying to shove themselves into the spotlight, while stepping over fallen old people and dying puppies, but I’m going to forget about that!)

So tomorrow will be the ‘official launch’, I suppose, of Diamond in the Rough. I’ll post an exerpt here with a link to the blog, but REALLY what I’d love is if all of you guys stuck Diamonds in your sidebar and gave it a shout out on your own blogs! (the image and link is at the top of my sidebar to the right!)

Remember, it’s for a good cause! You’ll be promoting the smaller blogs that should TOTALLY be like WAY FAMOUSER!

Plus you’ll be building yourself up a nice Worth Reading list without any labourious searching on your part!

So I’m going to put the finishing touches to Diamonds now, and I’ll be back next week with proper posting about stuff that isn’t just other blogs and competitions!lol!

Unless you want other blogs and competitions….

The Military Jacket Winner ….and another surprise!

So ….it’s the moment of truth.

After an agonising week of waiting, we will now find out who the winner of the beautiful BB Dakota jacket is.

Well you guys will …obviously I already know!

When I was telling The Boy about this, his first question was whether or not I’d be disappointed if it was won by someone who was just a once-off visitor of A Chick Named Hermia.

And as it happens, I’ll never find out because it’s been won by a loyal reader of the blog and a volunteer of my new project, Diamond in the Rough: the place where the undiscovered must-read blogs go (it’s coming REALLY soon!)….

So congratulations to Eve from Smile Because It Happened!!!!!!!!!!!

Wooooooo!!!!

And while I was delighted that this lovely girl was the winner of the jacket, part of me was sad that so many of you didn’t win.

So I picked out another two names…

..for a spontaneously-decided small Made By Me package prize ….

….nothing compared to the jacket I know, but I’ll do my best to make it nice!….

And the winners of these are…. *drumroll*…..

Sara from One Long Road

and

Alissa from Grace’s Birdcage!

I’m also thrilled about these winners!!!

So email me on your details girls!

Soph and Alissa, it’ll take me a couple of weeks to put those packages together for you, but I’ll email as soon as I post them off to you, so you know when to expect them!

Sorry to everyone who didn’t win and know that I would have given you all something if it was possible ….and I wasn’t broke! lol!

Looooooove You All!
