Fantabulous Foto Friday

April Fools Day.
My least favourite day of the year.
Made even worse by the fact that I work in media monitoring so I’m spending my day questioning whether news and discussions are real or a piss-take.
You’d be surprised at how hard it is to tell the difference…lot of rubbish out there in Radioland.

The main reason I don’t like it is because it’s the day before my birthday.
Which meant I spent my whole life listening to the same jokes on the day.

As a kid it was  “No it’s not your birthday tomorrow….APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!” as family members tried to convince me there was a mistake with my birth certificate.

As I got older it became…
“Oh I forgot it was your birthday tomorrow….APRIL FOOLS!!!!”
“Oh I didn’t get you anything…APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!”
“But I thought you wanted a pencil/spoon/pea for your birthday……APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!”

You get the idea.

Anyway, it IS my birthday tomorrow, so thoughts of a brilliant weekend will get me though this.
The Boy has promised me a Pancake-Cake for breakfast tomorrow and has also vowed to refer to me as Princess Hermia for the whole weekend…which he probably won’t do, but I can dream!
He’s also told me there’s a mystery trip to look forward to so high-fives all round!

And then on Monday, the madness begins…

Lazy Posting

Sorry, sorry, sorry, but you guys know I very rarely do this!
I was just a bit short on time these last few days and didn’t get a chance to write a proper post for today.
Do accept my apologies and I promise to do better tomorrow.
Now please enjoy this editorial I loved from Vogue Russia’s March issue.
I’m a sucker for courtroom dramas…

It’s almost the weekend!!
*insert many more exclamation marks*

Once again, I’m on target with posting every day from Monday to Friday …shocker!
This means I’ll actually have a nice relaxing weekend that won’t be punctuated with “OMG what am I going to WRITE!!!??? Why is my life SO BORING!!!?” as I stare at a blank laptop screen and try to hit my ‘five posts a week’ target.

I’m booking my train ticket for the Irish Blog Awards today.
I’m actually ridiculously excited about the event!
It’s not just about being nominated or winning awards – it’s about meeting up with all the lovely Irish bloggers we’ve met this year.
Only three weeks to go…YAY!

Fashion Bloggers That Rock My World #4

Here’s someone I discovered a couple of months ago.
Sian from Blondorexic is a breath of fresh air, displaying inspirational outfits through professional-looking home photos.
I would kill to have her wardrobe and natural creativity!!!
Sure, she keeps ending up in my Spam folder when she comments on my blog because ‘-orexic’ is in her title, but she’s definitely worth following.
Plus, her hair is absolutely amazing!

EDIT: Please note that since this was published, Sian has changed her blog and URL name to Avant Style. Click HERE for the link.

Lazy Days

I’ve had a lovely sleepy weekend.
The snow and ice appeared on Friday night, which meant that I wasn’t even going to consider leaving the apartment.
I feel a little frustrated at the moment, because it seems as though there isn’t a single time of year that I can relax!
I love autumn and winter, but in the last few years autumn has been overly warm and humid and the winter has brought nothing but ice for me to fall on (I have no balance).
Summer and Spring have been dreary and humid and suffocating.
Damn global warming.
I’m leaving Ireland for another climate.

But it hasn’t ruined my weekend!
We put up our Christmas tree and decorated the apartment on Friday night, settled down with a pizza and some goodies and watched the Toy Show (this is a show that happens at the end of November in Ireland and pretty much kicks off the Christmas season for us!).
An amazing job by Ryan Tubridy and his team made it the best show since Gay Byrne retired 10/11 years ago.

We watched Christmas movies, like Home Alone and Elf, drank tea and ate tummy-hugging food all weekend and I now feel thoroughly relaxed and ready for the week ahead.
How strange to hear me say that!

Now please enjoy these Jacob Sadrak portraits of Hanne Bruning…

Rag Doll livin’ in a movie

Hello Peeps!
Had to take a few days off blogging there to mentally prepare myself for this week of 5:30am starts.
It takes a lot of work.
There are stages such as denial and anger…well, mainly anger.
Tiredness makes me a little hysterical, so this should be an interesting week!
